Helping each other explore God's beauty, truth and goodness

We have resumed in-person services, ensuring that we abide by orders provided by the Government of B.C. Masks are mandatory (so be sure to bring yours!) and space is limited. Throughout the summer we will have a Service of the Word on the 1st, 2nd and 5th Sundays of the month and Holy Eucharist on the 3rd and 4th Sundays.

Our worship service is also still live-streamed on Sunday mornings at 11:00 a.m

St. Matthew is an affirming Christian community of the Anglican Church of Canada and the Diocese of New Westminster, located in the beautiful city of Abbotsford. We are a community embracing transformation in a safe and welcoming environment. Wherever you are at on your spiritual journey, you are welcome at St. Matthew.

Our priest, Fr. Allen Doerksen, also serves at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Chilliwack. Both parishes are working together at this time to provide weekly worship services. We meet virtually each Sunday at 11:00 a.m. to worship. A livestream is available here.

Each week, many of our parishioners gather virtually via Zoom and by phone for Bible studies, worship, faith formation, and mutual encouragement and connection. We recognize that, especially in this time of a pandemic, it is vitally important to continue growing our relationship with Christ and with each other, so that we can be effective representatives of Christ's love in our community, whether it be school, work, the grocery store, or anywhere else we find ourselves.

Things We Do Together

There is lots going on at St. Matthew! We'd love to see and get to know you better. Please check out some of the events and meetings below.

From Midweek Updates from Fr. Allen, to various special events, and other announcements, this is the place to keep up to date with the goings-on at St. Matthew.

St. Matthew is located on the the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Matsqui and Sumas First Nations, part of the greater Stó:lō Nation. The Stό:lō people have lived in the Fraser Valley for at least 10 000 years. May the living Christ lead us all on pathways of reconciliation and peace.
