It's Another Food Bank Challenge between Peace Lutheran and St Matt’s Anglican Church…

During the six weeks of LENT 2022 we offer another exciting inter-parish challenge, with the Abbotsford Food Bank as the beneficiary. You can show LOVE for your COMMUNITY in this fun and generous way.

We collected almost 1900 pounds of groceries last year, can we do better this time - 2022 pounds?

Between March 2 and April 16, each congregation collects non-perishable food items to donate to hungry families. Last time, St. Matt’s was ahead by a wee bit, but lots of fun was had, and a deserving, community-serving agency was the beneficiary.

You are invited to bring your donations to St Matthew Parish on Sundays or during the week. Volunteers from St Matt will collect and transport the groceries to the Food Bank, where the donations will be weighed.

Your monetary gifts are welcome too. If you are not able to bring a contribution to the church narthex, leave a message on the office number (604-853-2416) and a pick up will be arranged.

MOST NEEDED AT THE FOOD BANK:

  • CANNED fish, meat, soup, vegetables & fruit
  • PACKAGED rice, cereal, pasta, flour, sugar, juices, Kraft Dinner, etc.
  • BOTTLED peanut butter, jam, spaghetti sauce, salad dressings.
  • ALSO soaps (hand, dish, laundry), toilet paper, school snacks and treats.

PRIZE: The winning congregation will be hosted by the runner-up congregation for coffee/tea/refreshments, when the pandemic permits. St. Matthew’s offers an English High Tea. Peace offers coffee and kuchen.

"Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over...." Luke 6:38
