Father Allen has served the Parish of St. Matthew since 2011. Over the years, he has served in several dioceses in western Canada and in multiple parishes. He loves conversation and would welcome a phone call or an email; better yet, a chat in his study or at a local coffee shop! His passion is the development of spiritual community around the Mystery of God as expressed in the best of the Great Tradition and the ongoing development of human knowledge. He has found the Anglican expression of Christian community particularly conducive to this passion. Anglicans are typically unafraid to ask the hard questions, express their doubts and misgivings, while, at the same time, remaining loyal to the inclusive nature of our tradition. All of which makes for great conversations!
Beyond mutual fellowship, he strongly values the role of the priest as spiritual mentor, confessor, and counselor. He certainly doesn't claim to have all the answers but he loves exploring with parishioners and spiritual seekers helpful approaches to life and faith. In that respect, he offers pastoral counseling, marital counseling, marital preparation, as well as baptismal and confirmation preparation. He is gifted at biblical, theological, philosophical and psychological inquiry and has taught biblical and theological courses in academic settings. Please feel free to connect with him via email, text or phone.
