Taizé is a beautiful form of Christian prayer that originated in the ecumenical Taizé Community in France. While our service will not follow the structure of Taizé prayer exactly, it will draw from its spirit—offering a time of quiet reflection, simple chanting, Scripture readings, shared prayers, and silence. In this contemplative style, we open our hearts to God’s presence within us and among us.
This month, our theme will be the Season of Creation. From September 1 to October 4, Christians around the world give thanks for God’s gift of creation and reflect on our call to care for it. In our prayer, we will focus on the abundance and beauty of God’s creation, while also bringing before God the challenges of our time around environmental care. As with the Taizé tradition, the service will be less about instruction and more about entering into a spirit of reflection, peace, and praise.
