Today's readings lead us in some paradoxical directions; New Testament readings that might initially strike as as "stereotypically Old Testament hellfire" and a prophetic message from Isaiah that drips with "New Testament Mercy and Redemption." Fr. Allen suggests that all three readings are "positive," if understood under the following heading: "The God of Life vs. the Human Cultures of Death." God wants us to live! and live well! "Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the water..."
